Black homeownership, home loans for blacks on the decline in Missouri

Across Missouri, homeownership among blacks declined more than any other demographic from 2000 to 2010, and lags far behind that of whites. Moreover, from 2004 to 2010, blacks in Boone County, and across the state, received a disproportionate share of sub-prime home loans compared to the share of home loans they received during the same period. The number of loans given to blacks in Missouri dropped by 78 percent between 2005 and 2010, as well.
