According to the Missouri Department of Conservation Telecheck database, 7,077 turkeys were harvested and reported to the MDC during this year’s fall firearms season, which took place from Oct. 1 to 31 in Missouri. This represents a 19.4 percent increase from last year. It is the first concrete evidence that Missouri’s wild turkey population is recovering after several years of decline. Greene County topped the harvest list with 209 turkeys checked. Boone County was ranked 49 out of Missouri’s 114 counties with 62 turkeys checked.
