Columbia Municipal Power Plant's old boiler awaits assessment

Boiler No. 6 burns a mixture of coal and wood Feb. 21 in Columbia's Municipal Power Plant. Following the creation of new Environmental Protection Agency regulations, the old boilers and turbines at the plant will be assessed beginning in April by the Lutz, Daily & Brain LLC engineering firm in order to see if the old equipment can be brought up to date. If it's is not worth updating, measures will be taken to shut the plant down.
