CHART: Bully dog euthanasia

In November, the Central Missouri Humane Society adopted out a bully breed dog for the first time in more than 20 years. It had been unable to adopt out bully breeds, such as pit bulls and German shepherds, because of their negative stereotypes. If not claimed by an owner, the shelter either placed these breeds in rescue organizations or euthanized them. Since the inception of the Bull Runs program, which focuses on adopting out bully breed dogs that have been through an evaluation process, only three dogs have been euthanized for breed-specific reasons this year.
