April 21, 2012 | 12:01 a.m. CDT
Vincent St. Omer, a volunteer at Nora Stewart Early Learning Center, began a reading program at the 79-year-old nursery school. Once a week, St. Omer and other community members volunteer their time to read stories to the children.
Zanic He, Herman Clifton, David Lopez and Joshua Franco look up to Vincent St. Omer as he introduces himself to them before reading them a few books. St. Omer is a Nora Stewart Board Member and initiated a children’s reading program at Nora Stewart Early Learning Center.

Zaida Saunders, 4, left, and Keyana Turner, 5, whisper softly to each other about puppies while Nora Stewart Board Member Vincent St. Omer reads them a book about dogs.
The kids at Nora Stewart Early Learning Center circle up on the carpet to hear Vincent St. Omer read a story to them. Christian, 5, left, Keyana, 5, and Aaroush, 4, scoot in close to see the pictures.
