Children picked out art pieces Saturday at the Young Collectors Tent at Art in the Park in Stephens Lake Park.
Volunteer Dennis Murphy helps Charlotte Struckhoff, 6, pick an art piece Saturday at the Young Collectors Tent at the 54th annual Art in the Park event at Stephens Lake Park. "I think it looks like a bowl of ocean water and sea weed," she said. For $5, children come inside the tent and select one of the small, hand-made art pieces donated by exhibiting artists. The collected money will fund Columbia Art League's Art-Reach program for underserved children in the community.

Charlotte Struckhoff, 6, meets her parents Alicia and Matthew Struckhoff after making her purchase at the Young Collectors Tent. Parents are not allowed inside the tent while children pick out their art piece so they do not influence their decision.

Charlotte Struckhoff, 6, visits artist Peggy Corpeny in her stand to thank her and show her the art piece she picked out at the Young Collectors Tent. A tag on each piece specifies the booth number where the artist is located so the child has a chance to meet the artist after their purchase.
