Golfer Bob Patterson won the silver medal at this year's Missouri State Senior Games, despite recovering from a rare disease, Guillain-Barre syndrome.
Bob Patterson, left, and Bill Adams played in the golf tournament at the Missouri State Senior Games on Friday at the Lake of the Woods Golf Course. Patterson, 59, has been playing golf since 1976 and won the silver medal at the Games.

Bob Patterson putts the ball at the 17th hole. Teams started at different holes throughout the course in the tournament held on Friday. Patterson was diagnosed with ascending paralysis (Guillain–Barre syndrome) in 2011. After six weeks of treatment in the hospital with physical therapy, he is now able to play sports again.
