The Kingdom of Calontir, a regional branch of Society for Creative Anachronism, had more than 100 members present for an event Saturday at Peace Park.
"We are the backbone," Sandra Tapp, or Jaida de leon, said about the Fourth Company, part of the Society for Creative Anachronism's Kingdom of Calontir that helps to keep all the fighters in shape. Tapp, who is known as Jaida de Leon in the Kingdom of Calontir, made sure the army was getting water on the hot afternoon. In addition to water, she serves fighters sliced pickles and oranges.

The members of the Society for Creative Anachronism must wear extensive medieval-styled garb for protection during fights. Safety is extremely important to the group, and there is a detailed list of what must be protected. Gloves and metal armor are used to protect hands, as many of the fighters are business or medical professionals who use their hands in their daily jobs.
