PHOTO GALLERY: Columbia Fire Department responds to house fire

A passerby noticed smoke Tuesday at 711 W. Worley St. and alerted the Columbia Fire Department.
Firefighters spray siding on a West Worley Street house with water. The fire Tuesday was thought to be put out but sparked back up in the side lining of the house. Columbia Fire Department Battalion Chief James Weaver said the house will be unlivable, at least for tonight.

Columbia Water and Light workers roll up a hose Tuesday afternoon in front of 711 Worley St. A fire broke out, causing damage to the house. Water and Light was called to shut off power to the house because the fire took down electric wires.

Firefighter Josh Card walks away from the smoldering remains of a house on West Worley Street. The fire was reported Tuesday when a passerby noticed smoke. Only a pet dog was home at the time. No injuries were reported.

Columbia Fire Department Battalion Chief James Weaver said a fire Tuesday on West Worley Street started in the back of a house. Firefighters could not access the back right portion of the house initially because live electric wires were down, causing significant danger. Columbia Water and Light had to shut off power to the house at the scene.
