During the past 5 years, 300 acres of additional land has been used for wine production. In 2007, an increase in cold days in the spring caused depressed yields; the following year, grape production almost doubled. Missouri vineyards have seen an increase in both acreage and yields since 2009, but the 2012 harvest is projected to be smaller than previous years in light of this summer’s crippling drought.
