Preserving historical property pays dividends

Fixing up historic properties is a win-win for investors and local government, according to a recent city report. Assisted by matching state funds, private investors renovated historic buildings in downtown Columbia over 10 years. During this time, property values and tax revenue from historic structures doubled as a result. A breakdown of economic growth by type of property is below.
