CHART: Columbia wages

Gaps still exist in Columbia residents’ earnings. Of the 10 occupations that hired the most people in May 2011, food preparation and serving workers had the lowest mean hourly wage of $8.54, while general and operations managers had the highest mean hourly wage of $35.28. Of eight specific job types, doctors, especially surgeons, had the highest annual wages, while waiters and waitresses earned the least.
