Tobacco dries in Weston

Tobacco leaves are hung upside down on the racks to be dried during the Weston Heritage Festival on Sept. 22 at New Deal Tobacco Warehouse in Weston. Weston is located in Platte County, which used to be one of the biggest tobacco-producing areas in the state. Missouri has the lowest cigarette tax of the nation at 17 cents per pack. If passed, Proposition B on the general election ballot will increase the tax to 90 cents.
