CHART: U.S. companies add more jobs in September than expected

The national employment in the nonfarm private sector increased 162,000 positions in September from the previous month, according to an employment report by Automatic Data Processing. The increase is more than what economists expected but fewer than the total increase of 189,000 positions in August. Small companies and services sectors contributed most to the job increase.
