CHART: Columbia ranked tenth best college town

The American Institute for Economic Research has released its 2012 College Destinations Index. Based on the AIER’s 12 criteria, Columbia was ranked the 10th-best college town (areas under 250,000 residents) in the nation. The index includes all 527 metropolitan/micropolitan statistical areas in the U.S., excluding areas with less than 15,000 students. The 12 criteria included resident degree attainment, cost of living and arts and leisure opportunities.
