Russ Lampertz, a volunteer at the Central Missouri Astronomical Association, guides astronomy enthusiasts in an attempt to watch the Toutatis asteroid Tuesday at the Laws Observatory on the roof of the MU Physics Building. Lampertz used a green laser pointer, which has a range of two to three miles, to direct viewers' eyes to celestial bodies like the Orion's Belt constellation and Jupiter when the Toutatis asteroid passed out of view.
