Firefighters faced a special challenge getting water to the fire at a house on Route J where the nearest fire hydrant was a mile away.
Firefighters from the Boone County Fire Protection District try to extinguish the flames emerging from a residential house in Harrisburg on Wednesday. Smoke could be seen for four or five miles from the site.

A residential house caught fire around noon on Wedneday off of Route J in Harrisburg. No one was home at the time of the blaze.

Several trucks from the Boone County Fire Protection District arrived in Harrisburg after a house caught fire on Wednesday. Apart from damage to the property that belonged to Micheal Bopp, a puppy died in the fire. According to officials, the cause of the fire is currently unknown.
