Gotcha Costumes in downtown Columbia sells and rents costumes year-round for all occasions. Many customers are now shopping for Valentine's Day and Mardi Gras costumes.
Gotcha Costumes employee Ashley Counts hangs a buckskin outfit at the store on Walnut Street on Monday. Although Halloween is its busiest time of year, people are looking for costumes to rent year-round, Counts said.

A pile of fake poop sits on a glass counter at Gotcha Costumes. Employee Ashley Counts said that the novelty item has been one of the store's hottest Valentine's Day sellers. "People buy it, put balloons on it, send it to their friends," Counts said. "They think it's funny."

Gotcha Costumes rents and sells costumes for a variety of occasions. Ashley Counts said that while Halloween is its busiest season, the staff sees a fairly steady stream of customers throughout the year. The store rents costumes for school theatrical productions, historical re-enactments and parties. Currently, customers are looking for costumes and masks for Valentine's Day and Mardi Gras celebrations.
