Alfonso Hayes hand washes a car Monday at Joe Machens Automotive Group. "Hand washing is the only way to do it," Hayes said. "At least, the only way to do it right. Automatic machines would be faster, but they don't know each individual vehicle."

Alfonso Hayes sprays off a Mitsubishi Outlander on Monday in one of the car dealership's washing bays. Because of the recent snow by two winter storms, all of the dealer's vehicles were in need of a wash. Even without inclement weather, Hayes and four other employees wash more than 100 vehicles each week to get used cars ready for sale, or new cars ready for delivery to their new owners.
