Veronica Kloeppel and Avi, 2, wait for the beginning of an Asian carp cleaning and fillet session organized by the Missouri Department of Conservation at the North Village Arts District Farmers & Artisans Market on Sunday in Columbia. The Asian carp has spread into the Missouri and Mississippi riverways, where it is causing significant ecological damage to the food web other aquatic animals depend on.
