Chuck Graham

Chuck Graham is the Democratic incumbent seeking re-election. Before being elected to the Senate, Graham was the 24th District representative in the Missouri House of Representatives for eight years. Graham also has worked as an advocate for people with disabilities and as coordinator of the Americans with Disabilities Act for MU.

Graham says economic growth clusters around areas of higher education, and he wants to work to give MU a more effective voice in the General Assembly. He also wants to represent smaller communities in the 19th District that he says are often overlooked. Graham has pushed to create a voting student position on the UM Board of Curators. He supports stem-cell research and says his vote against a bill that included funding for a health sciences center at MU was based on provisions that would limit that research. Graham opposed the recent Medicaid cuts, saying they hurt the state's senior citizens, the working poor and people with disabilities.
