MU and the economy

• During the past decade, MU has conducted $1.9 billion in research, providing the state economy with $3.56 billion.

• Missouri’s economy benefits as MU brings in an average of $2.4 million in private donations, spends $9.7 million in payroll and wins $3.5 million in outside funds for research.

• MU’s research has a $440 million annual impact on Missouri.

• Attendance at MU athletic events in 2007 was more than 1.1 million. The fans generated more than $18 million in revenue and $1.3 million in sales tax.

• In 2006, the university’s business development extension initiatives served 3,300 clients; helped create $466 million in increased sales; and added or retained 5,657 jobs.

• Patrons from 30 states purchased 55,000 University Concert Series tickets, generating $5 million in sales, $780,000 in guest lodging and meals with $70,000 in sales tax.
