How long have you lived in Columbia? We’ve been in Columbia 6 1/2 years. We are originally from Puerto Rico. We came to attend graduate school and ended up working for the university after school.
How long do you plan to stay in Columbia? Another four or five years

Do you rent or own? We own it. We bought it in February 2007.
Can you give a rough estimate of your monthly budget? $5,833. I don’t know the exact breakdown, but about 50 percent in bills, 20 percent in food. The remaining 30 percent is scattered among entertainment, savings, retirement and gas. That changed drastically after we bought the house, which obviously is more responsibility. We are not spending on entertainment as we used to.

What kinds of recreational activities do you participate in? I’m a founding brother and current president for Lambda Sigma Upsilon Latino Fraternity, Cemí chapter at MU. I play volleyball, do rock climbing and play softball in the work team on the city league.
What is your favorite thing about Columbia? I like how it is expanding and growing. It is still affordable to live here.
