Chocolate chip cookies, lemon tea cake and numerous other baked goods were part of the Boone County Historical Society museum's fundraiser on Saturday. The society was raising money to cover costs because of a budget shortage. There were also crafts, jewelry and other goods also for sale.

The cooling tower and Callaway Nuclear Plant, located near Fulton, releases pressurized water waste on Friday. The tower at Callaway is 553 feet tall. City officials held a ribbon-cutting ceremony Friday, to celebrate the opening of Mexico Gravel Road in northeast Columbia.
