Hickman's Wesley Leftwich will compete in the long jump and the 4x200 and 4x100-meter relays at this weekend's Class 4 state track and field championships in Jefferson City. His goal is to place in the top eight in all three events.

For the past few days, temperatures have been higher than normal for this time of year. Families go to the splash area at Flat Branch Park to try to beat the heat. Robin Adams and her two children, Andrew and Rachel, spent time there Tuesday afternoon.

Frank Hennessy will close the Hennessy and Sons Music store after his 35 years of business since 1975. Tyler Stone saw limited action last season as a freshman on the Missouri men's basketball team, and when the season ended, the team announced that Stone and sophomore guard Miguel Paul were transferring to seek more playing time. Two days later, the Tigers signed a pair of the country's top-rated junior college transfers.
