Artist Joel Sager has suggested a three-painting series of buildings that represent fine architecture as well as Columbia's civic, commercial and cultural characteristics for the fifth floor of the Daniel Boone City Building addition. The buildings include the Boone County Courthouse, Central Dairy and The Blue Note.

Maricela "Mari" Politte is an ELL instructor at Blue Ridge Elementary School.
Courtney Siewert, an ELL teacher at Russell Boulevard Elementary School, sits in her classroom before her first class arrives Tuesday morning. Siewert has worked for five years in Columbia and speaks Spanish and French.
As an ELL instructor at West Junior High School in Columbia, Cathy Fulkerson has had students from southeast Asia, Africa, South Korea and Europe. This year, she has had children from 20 countries and 15 languages. "I have had someone from almost every continent," Fulkerson said.

An unsung system: The hidden network that cares for mid-Missouri's mentally ill is the work of Project 573. Made up of seniors at the Missouri School of Journalism, Project 573 brings together students from the school’s different sequences (print and digital news, radio/TV journalism, magazine, photojournalism, convergence journalism and strategic communication) for an experiment in cross-platform storytelling.
Many delightful and scrumptious desserts were displayed for the dessert auction held during dinner.
