A new natural gas station opened at 1900 Lake Ridgeway Drive in Columbia on Aug. 25. Clean Energy Fuel employees demonstrated how the new equipment worked last week while city employees practiced with the new pumps.
Women make up just 2.6 percent of Americans employed in construction-related jobs. Organizations such as Nontraditional Employment for Women are working to provide more training opportunities, and there is greater pressure on unions and contractors to recruit more women to work in the field.

Students gathered at MU on Wednesday to silently protest the death of Michael Brown, who was killed by a police officer on Aug. 9 in Ferguson, Mo.
Kenny Greene leads a free tai chi class Wednesday at the Armory Sports and Recreation Center. He practices multiple forms of martial arts and has been an instructor for 25 years. The free classes are held from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays and from 9 to 10 a.m. on Saturdays.
