The American Outlaws watched the U.S. vs. Nigeria friendly at McNally's Irish Pub on June 7 to gear up for this year's World Cup. The chapter gathered again Monday to watch the U.S. defeat Ghana 2-1 in the team's first match of the tournament. "Our mission is to bring love of soccer to higher and higher levels. To support the passion and unity of soccer fans," said Patrick Finney, the chapter's president and founder.

The annual Missouri High School Rodeo has returned to Columbia and brought with it excited and nervous high schoolers, ready to compete for spots at the national finals. The barrel jackpot is an "open" barrel race, meaning that it is open to all ages and doesn't require full dress code. The event requires participants to race around barrels in an arena. Competition will run Thursday through Saturday at the Central Missouri Events Center.
The Missouri High School Rodeo queen competition began Wednesday.

The Columbia Rogues practice every Tuesday night at Empire Roller Rink. The Rogues won the Bronze Division Rink Hockey National Championship in 2013.

Wendy Sollod, polymer clay artist from Boulder, Colo., is attracted to color and texture when she creates her pieces. She makes jewelry and masks, and she came to Columbia for friends. The Art in the Park festival is the first time she has displayed her artwork in Columbia.
Contestants in the Mid Missouri Soap Box Derby raced Sunday in downtown Columbia. The free, family-friendly event featured racers who range in age from 7 to 17 and hail from Columbia, Ashland, Boonville, Eldon, Harrisburg and Rocheport. The competition is split into three divisions: stock, super stock and masters.

Kids had plenty to do at Art in the Park Saturday, as they could get their faces painted, play with science or tie-dye shirts.
The Horstmeiers of Horstmeier Farms are looking to sell 20 acres of their property to Eichelberger Farms to be developed as a confinement hog operation. Some Callaway County residents, however, will meet June 10 to discuss the proposed hog farm planned for a site near State Road HH. The project is not definite, but residents still wanted their concerns and questions addressed about the 10,000-hog facility.
