Thousands return to Washington, D.C., on Wednesday to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the March on Washington and to participate in the Let Freedom Ring ceremony.

The Stephens College women's soccer team practiced for the upcoming season at Stephens Lake Park early Tuesday morning. After a disappointing 0-8 season performance in 2012, the team hopes to make a comeback this fall.

Battle High is hosting auditions for its competitive dance team, the Spartan Sparklers. On Monday, Danyale Williams, the dance team coach, taught prospective team members the audition routine. Auditions will be held Tuesday.
These portraits of homeless life in Columbia by photographer Brooke Morris, a recent graduate of MU, will be displayed in Bingham Gallery from Sept. 2 to 26 as part of the "Revealing Place" exhibit. The exhibit features the work of 36 student photographers, including 13 from MU.

The MU women's rugby team practiced Sunday at Rock Quarry Park, battling 90-degree heat to do drills that focused on ball handling and team communication.

The 37th annual Cattlemen Days Rodeo was held in downtown Ashland on Friday and Saturday. The event attracted rodeo fans of all ages and included cattle roping, live music and a parade on Saturday afternoon.

Battle High School officially opened its doors on Tuesday. Army Sgt. Wyatt Siegrist, dressed as the Spartan, and Stephanie Barnette, dressed in a white toga with a blue and gold belt of ribbon, greeted students on horses as they stepped out of cars and streamed out of the buses.
