Much has changed in Iraq since the U.S.-led invasion that began March 20, 2003. But pockmarked buildings and pervasive checkpoints serve as a stark reminder of the violence that nearly tore the country apart in the decade following the invasion.
Jilly Dos Santos, a 16-year-old sophomore at Rock Bridge High School, became a recognizable figure in the debate over new start times in Columbia Public Schools. She founded the district-wide Students' Say advocacy group.

University Hospital opened the new $50 million Patient Care Tower on Monday. It includes a ROBOT-Rx, an automated medication dispensing system that can disperse up to 3,000 doses of medicine daily.
The clouds cleared enough after a gray Monday morning to give hints of spring. Kaitlin Post was able to take her blue heeler, Cricket, out for a long walk at Shelter Gardens.

Missouri men's basektball team players and coaches learned Sunday that they will be seeded No. 9 in the next round in the NCAA Tournament. The Tigers will play Colorado State in Lexington, Ky., on Thursday.
MU's Alternative Spring Break and other programs such as Engineers Without Borders offer students the opportunity to serve others during the break. Students have gone to Detroit and Honduras in the past.

The Rock Bridge girls basketball team won the state championship for the second year in a row, playing Saturday evening at Mizzou Arena. The Bruins defended their title, beating St. Joseph's Academy 45-38.
Columbia College lost to LSU-Shreveport in the NAIA national tournament quarterfinals Saturday night in Kansas City. With a final score of 79-78, LSU-Shreveport ruined the Cougars' perfect season.
South Carolina beat Missouri 2-0 in the second game Saturday of a three-game series. The Tigers prevailed 4-0 in the third game later Saturday.
Mid-Missouri Railfans hosted their annual train show Saturday morning at Paquin Tower. Attendees could walk through exhibits featuring small train models for kids to play with and more intricate realistic models for adults.
The Hickman boys basketball team defeated Vianney on Saturday at Mizzou Arena to place third in the state tournament.
The Rock Bridge girls soccer team fell to Rolla 3-1 in the Bruins' home opener Friday evening at Rock Bridge.
The Missouri men's basketball team lost to Ole Miss 64-62 in the quarterfinals of the Southeastern Conference tournament at Bridgestone Arena in Nashville, Tenn.
Missouri baseball lost its Southeastern Conference home opener to South Carolina 4-1 Friday evening at Taylor Stadium.
Rock Bridge beat Blue Springs 43-32 to advance to Class 5 state finals. Rock Bridge will play St. Joseph's Academy Saturday evening at 8:30 p.m. at Mizzou Arena.

Columbia College men's basketball (35-0) outlasted Hope International University 66-64 to advance to the NAIA national championship quarterfinals 6 p.m. Saturday at Municipal Auditorium in Kansas City.
Fans went to Nashville, Tenn., to watch the Missouri men's basketball team play in the SEC tournament on Friday.
The Hickman boys basketball team lost 67-59 to Rockhurst in the class 5 state semifinal game. Hickman will play again Saturday in the third-place game while Rockhurst will be in the final.
Rock Bridge High School held a pep rally on Friday to recognize students' achievements and get students excited for the girls basketball semifinal game against Blue Springs on Friday night at Mizzou Arena.
Hickman High schools hosted a pep rally to celebrate the boys basketball team heading in to state semifinal games and to honor student achievements.
