A number of wastewater treatment plants failed to report high levels of bacteria that they were discharging into the Lake of the Ozarks over the summer. These discharges are one possible cause of the high levels of E. coli in the Lake of the Ozarks in recent months, along with rainwater carrying waste from farm fields and faulty residential septic tanks. by Nick Omland
