Out of Africa, a bittersweet treat

More than 70 percent of the world’s cocoa comes from Africa. Most of that comes from Cameroon, Côte d’Ivoire, Ghana and Nigeria, which use child labor in cocoa production, according to the U.S. Department of Labor. The department also recommended to include cocoa from Côte d’Ivoire and Nigeria on a list of goods produced with forced labor or indentured child labor.
