Shoe Factory District Neighborhood Association formed

The Hamilton-Brown Shoe Factory, located at 1123 Wilkes Blvd., operated from 1907 to 1939 as the largest shoe manufacturer in the world at the time. The building was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 2002.
