Wrapping saplings
April 3, 2009 | 4:57 p.m. CDT
A member of the TreeKeepers wraps pitch loblolly pine saplings at the Parks Management Center in Columbia on Friday. The TreeKeepers organization is sponsored by Columbia Parks and Recreation, and volunteers exchange 36 hours of their time over two years for 12 hours of free forestry classes per year. The TreeKeepers helped wrap 700 saplings from seven different species that will be given away for free in the Activity and Recreation Center parking lot starting at 8:30 a.m. Saturday.
