Joseph Smith
ASHLAND — Joseph C. Smith of Ashland died Monday, Oct. 19, 2009. He was 88.
Mr. Smith was born May 24, 1921, in Wilton to Elbert L. and Lorna (Nichols) Smith.
He married Helen Glascock on Nov. 23, 1945.
He served in the Army.
Mr. Smith was a retired equipment operator and was also a 60-year member of the Operating Engineers Union 513.
He was a 50-year member of the Ashland Masonic Lodge #156, the Ashland Order of the Eastern Star and the Scottish Rite and a member of the Ashland Optimist Club and the Cedar Valley Riders Club.
Mr. Smith is survived by his wife; two sons, Richard Smith of Lake Ozark and Doug Smith of Ashland; a daughter, Donna Smith of Columbia; four grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
A brother, Leo Smith, died earlier.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at Robinson Funeral Home, 601 N. Henry Clay Blvd., in Ashland. Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
