Scott Eugene Robbins
Scott Eugene Robbins of Russellville died of a heart attack Monday, Oct. 19, 2009, at University Hospital in Jackson, Miss., while out of town for business. He was 55.
Mr. Robbins was born Aug. 27, 1954, in Kirksville to Donald and Betty Jo (Saxton) Robbins. He married Milly Coleman on May 28, 1993.
After graduating from Scotland County R-1 High School and then Quincy Tech in Quincy, Ill., with a specialty in auto body repair in 1973, he worked in farming with his father. Mr. Robbins was also a driver for Fasco, transporting farm equipment, and a union steward with Electric Wheel in Quincy, Ill.
When his father died, Mr. Robbins moved to the Lake of the Ozarks and pursued a career in construction. Throughout his career, he was responsible for designing and building million dollar custom lake homes and multimillion dollar commercial projects. At the time of his death, he was employed as a superintendent at Stein Construction of Chattanooga, Tenn.
Mr. Robbins’ job took him all over the country. He enjoyed overseeing projects from the ground up and found great satisfaction as a designer and trim specialist of custom homes, and was well known for putting all he had into everything he did. Mr. Robbins continuously strove for excellence and perfection.
Throughout the course of his life he was recognized for his hard work and dedication. In high school, he earned the rank of Eagle Scout in the Boy Scouts of America and was the school's Future Farmers of America president. Later, he was involved in the design and development of a home that was featured in a 1992 issue of "Builders Architect."
In his free time, Mr. Robbins hunted big horn deer and turkey and he enjoyed fishing. The happiest moments of his life were spent with his wife, Milly, and son, Donny.
He is survived by his wife; his son; his mother, Betty Jo Bissell of Jefferson City; two step-sons, Rod Gray of West Palm, Fla., and Wm. Paul Goth of Spokane, Wash.; a brother, David Robbins of Marshall; a sister, Sherry Kupferle of Jefferson City; and numerous nieces and nephews.
His father; a sister, Donita Robbins; grandparents Ivan and Eula Ludwick and Paul and Catheryn Drummond died earlier.
Services, conducted by the Rev. Frank Dunbar, will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Memphis United Methodist Church. Burial will be in the Conyers Cemetery, located off Highway AA in Scotland County. Visitation is prior to the service from 10 a.m. until noon Saturday at the church.
