Sharon Wegner
Sharon Wegner of Columbia died Saturday, Oct. 31, 2009. She was 65.
Mrs. Wegner was born July 23, 1944, in Ft. Scott, Kan., to Dennis and Flora Wall. She grew up in Richland and moved to Round Rock, Texas, in 1981. She moved to Columbia in 2000.
In 2006, after 30 years working for Walmart, she retired to spend more time with her family.
Mrs. Wegner died at home after a lengthy illness.
The family would like to thank Joseph Muscato and all of his staff at Missouri Cancer Associates for the care and support provided during the past 16 months. The family would also like to thank Susan, Stephanie and Michelle with Missouri River Hospice for making Mrs. Wegner's last days at home comfortable and peaceful.
Mrs. Wegner is survived by her husband, Frank Wegner; two daughters, Charlotte Eaves and Cheryl Hopson of Columbia; two sisters, Denise Meyer and Linda Salinas of Columbia; five grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews and many other family members and friends.
A sister, Sheryl Wall, died earlier.
Visitation will be from noon to 1 p.m. Thursday at Parker Funeral Services, 22 N. Tenth St. Services will follow at the funeral home.
Memorials may be given to the American Cancer Society, 1900 N. Providence Road, or to a local blood bank. Condolences for the family may be left at parkerfuneralservice.com.
