Carson Reed Teel

Carson Reed Teel died Saturday, Nov. 7, 2009. He was 80. Mr. Teel enjoyed spending time hunting, fishing and camping. He also enjoyed being in the company of his family, including his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

He was born Oct. 5, 1929 in Boone County to Willard T. and Fratie E. Fisher Teel.

He married Ruby M. Short on Sept. 30, 1950.

Mr. Teel served in the Army during the Korean War. He worked for Farm Bureau Insurance and Midwest National Insurance. He spent the last 25 years at Family Benefit Life Insurance Company, where he served as vice president and a member of the board of directors.

Mr. Teel was a member of Olivet Christian Church and American Legion. He also served as a president of the Boone County Fair Board.

Mr. Teel is survived by his wife; his son, Mike Teel of Sturgeon; two brothers, Leo F. Teel and Joe T. Teel both of Columbia; one sister, Shirley Sapp of Columbia; six grandchildren, Brooksie Teel, Jessica Cobb, Clayton Jones, Caleb Jones, Lacey Jones and Lindsey Jones; and three great-grandchildren, Carson Tyger Cobb, Edie Joy Cobb, and Carter Kenneth Jones.

Another brother, Harold Teel; daughter, Pamela Jean Jones; and son, Kent Reed Teel, died earlier.

Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. on Friday at Parker Funeral Service & Crematory, 22 N. Tenth St. Services, conducted by the Rev. Dennis Swearngin, will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Olivet Christian Church, 1991 S. Olivet Road.

Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery, 1217 Business Loop 70 W.
