Flordia M. Cox
COLUMBIA — Flordia M. Cox of Columbia died Friday, Nov. 13, 2009, at Boone Hospital Center. She was 69.
She was born Dec. 29, 1939, in Caruthersville to Florida Jenkins and Margaret Lucille (Williams) Jones. She married William Cox.
Mrs. Cox enjoyed fishing, crotcheting, playing cards and cooking.
“We just liked to have fun,” her sister, Mamie Jenkins, said. The two would go fishing together, and the family still laughs about the time Mrs. Cox almost fell into the creek.
Mrs. Cox is survived by five daughters, Deborah Hill and Terra Sydnor, both of Chicago, Gwendolyn Jennings and Liticia Cox, both of Kennett, and Sandra Mockabee of Columbia; three brothers, LeeAry Williams of Hayti, Buddy Moore of Elizabethtown, Ky., and T.J. Robison of St. Louis; her sister, of Hayti; 14 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
A son, Victor Cortez Groce; and a brother, Norise “Sonny” Jenkins, died earlier.
Visitation will be from 1 to 8 p.m. Friday at the H.T. May and Son Funeral Home, 2207 Holly Ave. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witness, 301 W. Smiley Lane. Burial will be in Columbia Cemetery.
