Harold Lee Brady
Harold Lee Brady, known as Shorty by his friends, loved working with his Belgian horses and would participate in draft horse pulls with them. He and his wife, Helen, even bought a buggy and would have a horse ride them down the country roads during the summer.
Harold Lee Brady died on Saturday, January 23, 2010, at Boone Hospital Center. He was 69 years old.
Mr. Brady was born Sept. 30, 1940 in Boone County to Bernadine George. On March 11, 1965, he married Helen Marie Riggs .
Mr. Brady was a construction worker who operated heavy equipment from 1967 until he retired in 2002. He loved his job and worked for many different companies during his career. His wife described him as a workaholic and his employers praised his work ethic.
He served in the armed forces in Vietnam from 1965 to 1967, where he learned his trade of operating heavy equipment.
He is survived by his wife, of Hallsville; mother, Bernadine George of Columbia; brothers Lawrence Brady of Houston, Mo., Kenneth Brady of Union and James Brady of Moberly; sister Wanda Longoria of Hallsville; half brother John George of Columbia; and stepbrother Ray George of Hallsville.
His stepfather Cecil George; father-in-law Russell Riggs; brother Ronnie Brady; and stepsisters Shirley McGee, Barbara Devore and Janet Griffitts died earlier.
Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. Monday at Parker Funeral Service, 22 N. Tenth St., Columbia, MO, 65201. Services will follow at 11 a.m. Burial will be in Glendale Memorial Gardens, 101 Highway 22 E., Centralia, MO 65240.
