Harvey Herman Linneman

Harvey Herman Linneman is remembered as someone who was active in his church and community and who was always willing to help others.

“He was a very cordial person," said the Rev. Laurence Carlson. "He had a heart for people.”

His wife, Pattie Linneman, described him as “perfect.”

“He was a great husband,” she said. “Everybody loved him.”

Mr. Linneman of Forest Green died Sunday, Jan. 31, 2010. He was 72.

He was born Nov. 14, 1937 in Forest Green to Herman and Letha (Spellman) Linneman. He attended Forest Green and Salem Lutheran schools and graduated from Glasgow High School in 1955. On July 27, 1968, Mr. Linneman married Pattie L. Stine in Salisbury.

Mr. Linneman liked to help people haul their grain, corn, beans and other crops, and he loved watching sports, especially the Kansas City Chiefs and the St. Louis Cardinals, his wife said.

Mr. Linneman served on several council offices at Salem Lutheran Church and was a church elder twice.

“He was in church every Sunday unless he wasn’t feeling well or was out of town,” Carlson said. Mr. Linneman and his wife liked to go out for lunch after the service on Sunday and would often invite Carlson to be their guest.

Mr. Linneman farmed in Chariton County and was an MFA Agri Service delegate. He was a board member of MFA Oil Company and of the Lower Chariton River Levee District. In addition, he was a committee member of the Chariton County ASCS, a Glasgow Co-op board member and a Glasgow Rural Fire District board member. He also served as a member of the Military Police in the National Guard.

Mr. Linneman is survived by his wife and two aunts, Daisy Easterhaus of Glasgow, and Ethel Sanders of Kansas City.
