David L. Klug
David L. Klug of Ivy died Friday, Feb. 5, 2010, in his home. He was 75.
He was born Aug. 12, 1934, in St. Louis to John Adam and Evelyn Klug.
After graduating from Ferguson High School in Ferguson in 1952 and studying for three and a half years at Washington University in St. Louis, Mr. Klug was drafted into the Air Force. For 13 years he served at bases in Ohio, Oklahoma, Germany, Thailand, Mississippi and Labrador. After Vietnam, he spent seven more years in the Army Reserve.
In 1964, Mr. Klug graduated from MU with a degree in mechanical engineering. He retired in 1995 after 15 years as a consultant in research and development with Picatinny Arsenal in Dover, N. J.
Mr. Klug was a member of the Mizzou Alumni Association, the Monticello Blue Ridge Coin Club and the American Legion.
His family noted his interests in art glass, art deco, coins, music and American Indian pieces in carvings, weaving and pottery. He was also a science fiction fan.
Mr. Klug is survived by his wife of 46 years, Susan Klug; a son, David Klug of Bowie, Md.; two daughters, Karin Klug-Lais of Charlottesville, Va. and Sharra Klug of Massanutten, Va.; a brother, Don Richard Klug of St. Louis; five grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
His brother, John Adam Klug Jr., died earlier.
A memorial service will be held at a later date.
