David Martin Vemer
David Martin Vemer of Columbia died Monday, Oct. 11, 2010, after a lengthy illness. He was 82.
Mr. Vemer was born March 3, 1928, in Callaway County to Floyd and Helen (Selby) Vemer. He was a member of Olivet Christian Church, a veteran of the Marine Corps and a respected cattleman.
Mr. Vemer is survived by his wife of eight years, Velma; daughters Penny Vemer Treaster of Plano, Texas, and Rebecca Vemer Perisho of Nashville, Tenn.; stepchildren Natasha Angell, Vicky Schamberger and Rusty Shay; brother Turner Vemer of Las Cruces, N.M.; and sister Betty Rose of Shelbina.
A brother, Robert, and the mother of his children, Bonnie Huskey, died earlier.
The family will receive visitors from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 13, at Parker Funeral Service, 22 N. Tenth St., and from 10 to 11 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 14, at Olivet Christian Church, 1991 S. Olivet Road.
The Rev. Dennis Swearngin will conduct services at 11 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 14, at Olivet Christian Church. Burial will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery, 1217 Business Loop 70 W.
