James Unger of Columbia died Wednesday, Oct. 13, 2010. He was 76.
Mr. Unger was born Aug. 22, 1934, in Boonville to Gilbert and Anna Ruth Sherwood Unger. He married Lorene Monnig on June 15, 1954, in Glasgow, Mo.
Mr. Unger grew up in Glasgow and served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He worked for Jim’s Super Service in Glasgow and retired from the VA Hospital after 27 years of service.
Mr. Unger is survived by three children, Russell Unger of Columbia, Mona Wieberg of Fayette, and Curtis Unger of Richmond, Va.; seven grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Mr. Unger's wife and a brother died earlier.
Visitation will be held from 2 to 3 p.m. on October 17, 2010, at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, 903 Bernadette Drive. A funeral mass will follow at 3 p.m. at the church, followed by the burial at Washington Cemetery in Glasgow.
