William Raymond Williams
William Raymond Williams died at his home at Parkside Manor on Sunday, Oct. 17, 2010. He was 103.
He was born Aug. 17, 1907, near Rocheport to Joseph T. and Lona Buckler Williams.
On May 7, 1932, Mr. Williams married Lucy Lee Purdy in Fulton.
He attended Wilhite Country School. Mr. Williams was a farmer, worked for the Special Road District, was a book binder at Stephens Publishing Company and later worked as a handyman for Klifton Altis. He enjoyed gardening and playing cards .
Mr. Williams was a member of the Elks Lodge, I.O.O.F Lodge and the Eagles Lodge.
His parents; wife; an infant son; a sister, Tressie Williams; two brothers, Ralph and Tilford Williams; and a niece, Cora Lee Cragin, died earlier.
He is survived by two grandchildren, Annette Marie Ray of Shelby, Ala., and Michele Angela Palmer of Springfield; a great-grandchild, Michelle Lee Smith of Afton; two great-great-grandchildren, Veronica Leigh Smith and Isabelle Marie Smith of Afton; and a niece, Delores Cornell of Columbia.
Visitation will be held from 1 to 2 p.m. Wednesday at Parker Funeral Service, 22 N. Tenth St., Columbia, MO 65201. Graveside services will follow at 2 p.m. at Memorial Park Cemetery, 1217 Business Loop 70 West.
