Ina Ruth Murray

Ina Ruth Murray, formerly of Columbia, died Monday, Oct. 18, 2010, at the Missouri Delta Medical Center in Sikeston. She was 91.

She was born July 11, 1919, in Wilton to John and Ruby (Pilcher) Batye.

Mrs. Murray was a former employee of Shelter Insurance Co. and retired after 20 years of service. For many years, she was a member of the Athens Rebekah Lodge 383 in Columbia and served as the Noble Grand in 1988.

Mrs. Murray and her husband, Lawrence W. Murray, lived most of their lives in Columbia until recently moving to Sikeston, where she was a resident of Miner Nursing Center.

She is survived by a daughter, Judy Gardner of Sikeston; a sister, Virginia Strawn of Columbia; a grandson; and a great-granddaughter.

Her husband and four sisters died earlier.

Visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m. Monday at Parker Funeral Service, 22 N. Tenth St., followed by a graveside service at 11:30 a.m. at Memorial Park Cemetery.
