Jack Dykes

Rudolph (Jack) Dykes, former supervisor of MU's Department of Residential Life, died Saturday, Nov. 6, 2010, at his home in Columbia. He was 72.

Mr. Dykes was born Oct. 1, 1938, in Clay County to Willie and Frances Corum Dykes. He married Rachel Bradley in 1969 in Miami, Okla.

He served in the U.S. Marines after the Korean War and was stationed in Japan before working for MU.

He was a member of Fraternal Order of Eagles Lodge 4307. His hobbies were pitching horseshoes and hunting for mushrooms.

Mr. Dykes is survived by his wife; brother Gerald Dykes, of Rockport, Texas; sister Jean Hubbard, of Lathrop; and Ralph and Betty Edwards.

His parents, four brothers and one sister died earlier.

After a 10 a.m. visitation, services will be held at 11 a.m. Nov. 10 at Parker Funeral Service, 22 N. Tenth St. The burial will follow at Old Union Cemetery on South Sinclair Road, just north of Route K.
