Mr. Scott worked in Missouri and Iowa teaching music from 1949 to 1951. He also worked for educational publisher Scott, Foresman and Co. for 35 years until he retired in 1987.
Described as an "avid golfer" by his family, Mr. Scott enjoyed spending time with his wife, friends and family at the Columbia Country Club.
Tipton said he had fond memories of his grandfather reading to him and taking him to the movies. Mr. Scott was so involved, he said, he was like another parent.
He said Mr. Scott was very outgoing.
