COLUMBIA — Juanita Black-Morris of Columbia died Thursday, Nov.25, 2010. She was 84.
She was born May 18, 1926, in Malta Bend, the daughter of Kinley and Edna Pearl Clemons. She was the last survivor of 11 children.
She married Frank Black in Malta Bend in October 1946; he died in 1974. In 1988 she married Charles “Teeny” Morris; he died in 2002.
Mrs. Black-Morris graduated from Malta Bend High School and attended Southwest Baptist College in Bolivar, Mo.
Mrs. Black-Morris worked at MU for many years, and she retired from the School of Nursing in 1989.
As a lifelong musician, Mrs. Black-Morris played the piano and sang at several establishments, including Jack’s Haden House.
She was a member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary Post 280 and Columbia Elks Lodge.
She is survived by her daughter, Mary Rhonda Victor of Columbia; a son, Tony Black of Columbia; a stepdaughter, Cindy Stewart of Columbia; seven grandchildren, Angela Preyer, Jason White, Katie Victor, Erin Black, Jayme White, Anthony “T.J.” Black Jr. and Whitney Black; three stepgrandchildren, Brent Stewart, Doug Stewart and Maria Renner; 11 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
A son, Daniel Warren Black, died earlier.
Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday at Parker Funeral Service, 22 N. Tenth St. Services will follow at the funeral home. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery, 1217 Business Loop 70 W.
