Iva Belle Nordstrom
COLUMBIA — Iva Belle Nordstrom of Broomfield, Colo., died Tuesday, Jan. 11, 2011, in Louisville, Colo. She was 102.
She was born Jan. 12, 1908, in Boone County to Henry and Effie Dee (Powell) Kite.
Mrs. Nordstrom was caring and hardworking, her younger sister Ollie J. Nichols said.
“She took care of me as a baby,” Nichols said.
Mrs. Nordstrom moved to Colorado, where she met her husband, Carl Nordstrom, Nichols said. The two opened and ran a grocery store in Lafayette, Colo.
Later, the couple ran a dairy farm in Broomfield, Colo., Nichols said.
After the death of her husband, Mrs. Nordstrom stayed in Broomfield, where she was “a homemaker for herself,” Nichols said.
An independent woman, Mrs. Nordstrom outlived nearly all her friends and family and lived at her home in Broomfield until she died, Nichols said.
Mrs. Nordstrom is survived by her sister, Ollie J. Nichols of Columbia; and several nieces and nephews.
Services will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday at the Smith Chapel Cemetery in Howard County. Memorials may be given to the Smith Chapel Cemetery.
