Marian Martin
COLUMBIA — Marian Martin of Columbia died Wednesday, Jan. 26, 2011, at Lenior Woods Senior Living Community. She was 84.
She was born Oct. 27, 1926, in Cape Girardeau to Leon J. and Edith Beard Bahn.
She married Gene Martin. The couple enjoyed traveling the world and collecting seashells.
Mrs. Martin studied at the Chicago Art Institute and Columbia College and graduated from Southeast Missouri State University.
She was a member of Columbia PEO Chapter MA and of the Columbia Art League, where she taught classes.
Her paintings and batiks have been chosen for the American Association of University Women’s “Women in Arts” exhibit, and her wall hangings were selected for the Missouri Council on the Arts touring exhibit.
Her art also was selected for juried shows at the Columbia Art League, Columbia College and the annual Boone County Bank Art Show.
Mrs. Martin is survived by her son, Doug Martin of Columbia.
A son, and husband died earlier.
Visitation will be from 4 to 6 p.m. Friday at Parker Funeral Service, 22 N. Tenth St., and services will be held at 1 p.m. Monday at New Lorimier Cemetery in Cape Girardeau.
