Gertrude J. Bridgett

Gertrude J. (Riley) Bridgett of Columbia died Sunday, Feb. 6, 2011, at The Bluffs Skilled Nursing Facility in Columbia. She was 90.
She was born June 16, 1920, in Revere to Calvin and Lena Pletsher Riley.
She graduated from Hannibal-LaGrange College and William Jewell College, where she received a bachelor’s degree in biology.
She married the Rev. Richard Bridgett on July 27, 1941. The two were married for 59 years before his death on Nov. 5, 2000.
Mrs. Bridgett was a homemaker and served alongside her husband as a minister’s wife to several country churches in Missouri, including Providence Baptist Church near Arbela and Warren Baptist Church in Warren.
Mrs. Bridgett is survived by a daughter, Debbie Schluckebier of Columbia; and three grandsons, Scott, Tim and Steven Schluckebier.
Her husband; a daughter, Patty Pollard; and two sisters, Anna Marie Sisson and Helen Johnson, died earlier.
Visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m. Thursday at the James O’Donnell Funeral Home, 302 S. Fifth St., in Hannibal. Services will follow at 11 a.m., conducted by Brother Justin Mosher. Burial will follow at Grand View Burial Park, 11116 Highway 61, in Hannibal.
